N. 16.-Jbiut Resolution tendering the Thanks of the General As-
sembly to the Baltimore and Ohio Rail Road Company.
Adopted February 24, 1860.
Preamble.    Whereas, during the events connected with the recent
outrage at Harpers Ferry and the trial and execution of
criminals at Charlestown, the Baltimore and Ohio rail
road company made liberal and efficient arrangements to
prevent and arrest an apprehended and threatened inva-
sio: of this state, and rendered patriotic services in sup-
port of justice, and in maintenance of public tranquillity :
Thanks tendered  Be it therefore resolved by the general assembly, that
the thanks of this commonwealth are due and are hereby
tendered to the said company, and to the officers thereof,
for their patriotic action, and for effective assistance to the
authorities of the state.
No. 17.-Resolution to provide for the Compensation of Colonel J.
Lucius Davis, for his Services at Charlestown in the County of
Jefferson.
Adopted February 6, 1860.
