Be it further enacted, that the president and directors shall have full General meet- powver to change the days of holding the annual meetings of tihe said company, s how catted. and at any and all times to call a general meeting of the stockholders for any purposes relating to the interests of said company, and that any number of stock- holders, holding not less thn one.fourth of the whole number of shares, may require the president and directors for the time being to call a general meeting of the stockholders; and on their refusing to do so, shall have power of them- selves to call such a meeting. giving at least three weeks' notice thereof in one or more of the newspapers published in Winchester; and any resolution passed at any such general meeting shall be binding on the president ad directors of said company; and at all such general meetings of stockholders, the stock shall be Votes of voted oi as at the election for directors, each share having one vote. stockholders. 2. Be it enacted by the general assembly. that it shall be lawful to open books Company under the direction of Samuel A. Miller. Philip P. Dandridge, John D. Lewis, incorporated. James H. Brown and William A. Quarrier, or any three of them, at Charleston in the county of Kanawha. for the purpose of receiving subscriptions to the Capital. amount of fifty thousand dollars, in shares of one hundred dollars each, to con. stitute a joint capital stock for the purpose of insuring against losses by the ab- sconding of slaves, losses by fire, &c. 2. Whenever one hundred shares shall have been subscribed, then the slb. When incorpo. scribers shall be and they are hereby declared to be a body corporate and politic rated. by the name anal style of The West Virginia Insurance Company; and shall he Name. subject to all the provisions of the Code of Virginia relating.to joint stock com- panies, so far as they may be applicable. 3. Be it'enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, that Augustus B. Cooke, Howard Thomas J. Corprew, Robert M. Ball, Robert IV. Bowden, Win. D. Reynolds, association James M. Saunders and Solomon Cherry, and their associates, shall be and the incorporated. samme are hereby constituted a body politic and corporate under the name and style of The Hloward Association of Norfolk; and by that name and style, shall Corporate be subject to all the rules, regulations atd restrictions imposed and be invested powers. with all the rights, powers and privileges conferred by the fifty-sixth and fifty- seventh chapters of the Code of Virginia applicable to such a corporation. 2. Paull, John P. Leigh, Richard Dickson. Win. incorporated. H. Smith, Charles A. Santos, A. L. Seabury. Alexander Bell, John S. Millson, John Southgate, Win. T. Harrison, John H. Rowland, Herbert AT.
