ChAr. 30.-An ACT to authorize the sale of a tract of land in Page
county, devised by John Gatewood, sen., in trust for the benefit of his son
John Gatewood, jr. nnd his children, and the investment of the proceeds in
the purchase of land in Missouri.

Preamble. Whereas John Gatewood, senior, late of Page county, by his will
recorded in the county court of said county, gave certain property,
including a tract of land ill that county to trustees in trust for the
use of his son John Gatewood, jr. for lifo, and at his death to de.
secend and pass to his children or their descendants, as if lie had died
intestate and unuarried, seized thereof and entitled thereto: And
whereas it is represented to the general assembly that the said John
Gatewood, jr. and his children have been for somc years past, and
are now residing in the state of Missouri, and that their interest re.
quires that the said tract of land should be sold and the proceeds
invested in the purchase of' land in Missouri : Therefore,
lw sl or II 1. Be it enactcd by tle general assembly, That the circuit supe-
omid nin,,n. rior court of law and chancery for the said county of Page may de.
cree that such sale and investment shall be made, if it shall appear
that the interest of the parties concerned will be promoted thereby :
P'ovidcd /wwcver, That before such sale slall be Inade, bond and
security slhall be given for the application of the proceeds according
to the order of the court : And JJFovidled also, That tile land which
may be purchased with the proceeds of sale shall be conveyed to a
trustee and be subject to the same trusts and limitations to which
the said tract of land iu Page is now subject under the will aforesaid.

CI,.AP. 307.-An ACT auithnrizing the division and distribution of the real
and personal estate of John Miller in Rappahannock county.
[Passed January 15, 1818.]
P'rIhial'. o Whereas John Miller, late of the county of ltappahannock, by his
last will and testament, devised certain real and personal estate to
be equally divided antgst his children when the youngest should
arrive at the age of twenty-one years, and until the happening of that
event directed the said estate to be kept together and cultivated for
their use: And whereas it is represented that the interesls of all
persons concerned in the said property will be greatly advanced by
the imniediate division and distribution of the said real and personal
estate :
Sale andditri- i. Be it therrfore enacted by the general assembly, That it shall

pIly. dian of the infant children and devisees of the said John Miller, to
decree a division and distribution of the said real and personal estate,
among tie said devisees ; and a sale of so much thereof as may be
necessary to effiet such division and distribution, and a conveyance
of the portions sold to the purchasers, if upon the proofs adduced it
shall appear to the satisfaction of the said court that tie interests
of the said devisees manifestly require the division and distribution
of the said real and personal estate.
