Any slave who shall commit any offence, for the commission siaves whe, whereof a free person at the time of committing the same is punish- Pll,.iaitle with able with death or by confinement in the penitentiary for a period aeth. not less than three years, shall be punished with death. 2. Any slave who shall absent himself from the tenement of his c.ing rom lio,, master or employer without a pass or permit, or token, whereby it without pass. may appear that he is absent by permission of his master, employer or manager, shall at the discretion of a justice of the peace be ptn- ished by stripes not exceeding thirty-nine. 8. Any slave who shall furnish a pass, permit or token to another rurnisiling pass slave, without consent of the master or manager of such slave, shall to another. be punished by stripes not exceeding thirty-nine. 9. If any slave voluntarily be upon the tenement of any person on tenement of without leave in writing from his owner or manager, it shall be anotier without lawful for the owner or manager of such tenement to punish such Weave. slave with ten lashes for every such offence. 10.
