CihAP. 150.-An ACT concerning Shepherd Brown of the state of Missiuippi.
[Passed February 10, 1844.]
Sum allowed   1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That the auditor of
Shepherd Brown. public accounts be and is hereby authorized and required to issue his
warrant on the treasury, payable out of any money therein not other-
wise appropriated, in favour of Shepherd Brown of the state of Mis-
sissippi, or his order, for the sum of seventy-five dollars, being the
amount expended by him in transporting a slave, the property of said
Brown, from the state of Virginia, whither he had been sent in obe-
(hence to tihe requisition of the executive of this commonwealth upon
tile executive of the state of Mississippi ; said slave having been
charged with the crime of arson, upon being brought back as afore-
said, was duly tried at Wythe courthouse in the year eighteen hun-
dred and thirty-nine, and fully acquitted thereof.
Commencement.  2. This act shall be in force from the passing thereof.

Thomas Prickett  1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That the marriage here.
divorced.   tofore solemnized between Thomas Prickett of the county of Tyler,
and Elizabeth his wife, shall be and the same is hereby dissolved, and
the said Thomas forever divorced from his wife the said Elizabeth;
and that all riht, interest and claim of the said Elizabeth in and to
the estate, reaT or personal, of the said Thomas, or any part thereof,
shall henceforth cease and determine.
Commencement. '2. This act shall be in force from the passing thereof.
CHAP. 152.-An ACT for the relief of George Angus and Henry Angus,
persons of colour.
[Passed February 15, 1844.]
Preamble.     Whereas it is represented to the general assembly by James S.
Gee, administrator of Judith Angus deceased, a free woman of co.
lour, late of the town of Petersburg, that his intestate by a writing
under her hand and seal, bearing date the twenty-first day of June
eighteen hundred and thirty-two, purporting to be her last will and
testament, but which not being properly attested was never admitted
to reco rd, emancipated her son George Angus and her grandson
Henry Angus, who are slaves; that there are no creditors of her es-
tate, and it is believed there are none who will ever appear to claim
it, and asking that the said George and enry may be emancipated:
Therefore,
George nd lien-  1. Be it enacted, That the said George Angus and Henry Angus
ryat,,gus semar- shall be, and they are hereby emancipated and declared free, to the
same extent they could or would have been had the writing aforesaid
been properly attested and duly admitte(, to record: Provided how-
ever, That nothing herein contained shall be so construed as to affect
in any manner the rights of creditors or next of kin of the said Ju-
dith Angus.
