Whereas the late George E. Harrison of Brandon, in the county of Prince George, (lid, by his last will, devise to his wife Isabella 11. Ilarrison, during her life, the use of his dwelling house, yards, gar. (lells and offioes appertaining thereto, together with all his house- hohl and kitchen furniture, and his carriage and carriage horses ; and directed, that the house should he furnished during her occu- pation of it, with meats, meal, fuil, &c. from his estate as thereto- lbro ; he also bequeathed to his said will a maid servant as her ah- solute property ; ad bequeathed to her during life, nine servants, who were usually employed about tile house, yard and garden, and two others (hiring her widowhood, with directions, that thepe two, with their increase, le emancilpated at the termination of her estate in them ; and after maiy specific and pecuniary legacies, tile tes- tator directed, that his Brandon estates consisting of about five thousand acres of land should be kept and cultivated together as at present; and lie bequeathed to his wife two-fifths of tile nett pro- tits of all his estates not otherwise disposed of; and lie devised anl heiiieathed ni the residue of' his estate, incliding among other thiuigs aboUt o1i0 hundred and eighty slaves, and an unusually large and valuable stock of ill kinds, and plantation implements aii utensils, to his so George E. Harrison, aii infant, aged at this timfie abot two years and six months. And whereas since the death of ite testator, which tookl place on tile eighteenth of January last, a posth luil s chil oot provided for by his will has been hori and is therefore entitled to the same share of tile estate as if the said testator had died intestate; and whereas George K. Taylor admii- nistrator with tile will annexed of' the said H[arrison, William 11. I larrison his sorety, and tile widow, iii behalf of herself and her infait clildren, have petitioned the legislature, setting forth the fac ts aforesaid, and that it is doubtfil whether the said ad ininistra- tor caii, according to law, keep up the said estate in the manner directed hy the will; that the widow is extremely unwilling to re- notiice the liberal provisiom intended to be made for her hy the will, ahlthougl it will Le materially reduced by the birth of her tos- thmnous daughter; and althoogli, it she were to (o so, she would in a pecuniary view be greatly benefitted by the third part of tie large persoril (,state, to which she would be then entitled ; but that the value of the estate of her two children would be greatly impaired if the same were to be disposed of, as in that event they believe tie law wimld require it to lie disposed of during their long nminority ; wherefore they have petitioned tie legislature to pass -ill act authorizing the estate to le kept together in all respects as is directed by the testator, giving to the posthumoos child tile same share of the estate aiid I)rolits as she would otherwise be entitled to, and thereby relieving the administrator and his surety from the risks to which they might le suhject in the premises : Therefore, Mhnt portion nF I . lie it enocted iby the general assembly, That it shall and may I'll IVw ....fI be lawful for tile adm inistrator of G eorge E.
