This act shall be in force from the passing thereof. Corononcenent. CHAP. 175.-An ACT concerning the town of Lexington and the Dragon Swamp canal. (Passed Mlarch 10, 1840.) 1. Be it enacted by the gencral assembl/I, That the act, emtitled Act conoerni,n an act concerning the town of New Market in the county of ..tr..f Nwar- Shenandoah, passed January the thirteenth, eighteen hundred and thirty-six, shall be and the same is hereby repealed. 2. And be it further tnacted, That Samnuel Tidier, Samuel G. 'ir,,t. Ilankle, Patrick M'Manus, Joseph It. Sibert, Jonathan M'Damiiel, Jacob Summers and John D. Zirkle, shall be and they are hereby appointed trustees for said town, a majority of whmu shall consti- tute a board for the transaction of business under the authority of this act. 3. And be it further enacted, That the said trustees and their Oll~hoftrultems. successors in office, before entering upon the duties of their office, shall make oath or solemn affirmation before some justice of the peace for the county of Shenandoah, that they will faithfully and impartially execute the duties of their office, to the best of their skill and judgment.
