CHAP. 283.-An ACT permitting sundry free persons of colour therein named
to remain in the commonwealth a limited time.

Sundry Nro per. 1. Be it enacted by the general assemdy, That Arthur Lee of
tato. rea in the county of Alleghany and wife, and David Skurry of the county
of Amelia, Stephen of the county of Albemarle, Jacob Boush and
Toney Boush of the county of Princess Anne, Jonas Baker of the
county of Fredcick, and Richard Binns of the city of Richmond,
free persons of colour, shall be, and they are hereby permitted to
remain in this commonwealth unmolested, for one year from the
passage of this act, and that Bassett Saunders and Milly of the
city of Richmond, also free persons of colour, shall be, and they
are hereby permitted to remain in this commonwealth ; and if at
any time any of the aforesaid persons shall be convicted of any of-
fence against the laws of this commonwealth, by the verdict of a
jury or the judgment of a court, from thenceforth the privilege
herein granted shall cease and determine as to such of the persons
aforesaid against whom such conviction may be had.
