Be it enacted by the general asscmbly, That Moses, a man Ofh 'oseallowedto colour, a resident of the county of Bedford, emancipated by the will remain II statO. of Lewis Chastain, shall be, and he is hereby permitted to remain as a free person within this commonwealth, and to reside in the said county of Bedford: Provided, That if the said Moses shall hereafter he convicted by the verdict of a jury or the judgment of a court, of any offence against the laws of this commonwealth, the privilege hereby granted shall cease. 2. This act shall be in force fior its passage. Commencement. CHAr. 227.-An ACT allowing Rylnnd, a free man of colour, to remain in the commonwealth. (Poasted aurch I2, 18L5,) 1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That Ry- flylanm allowed to land, a man of colour, lately emancipated by Thomas Ford of the mmn In state. county of Prince Edward, shall he, and he is hereby permitted to remain as a free person in this commonwealth, and to reside in the said county of Prince Eldward : Provided, That if the said Ryland shall hereafter be convicted by the verdict of a jury or the judg- ment of a court, of any offence against the laws of this common- wealth, the privilege hereby granted shall cease. '). This act shall be in force from and after its passage. Commonement.
