es . , p.,51,  this comnonwealth, residing in any county bordering on the Po-
towmac, or the waters of the same, to issue his warrant, and to
cause all persons to be apprehended, who arel'ound in possession of
such guns as cannot be shot from the shoulder at arms length ; and
the magistrates so causing the offenders to be apprehended, shall
have their guns destroyed, and rendered unfit for use, shall not here-
after be deemed, taken or holden to extend or apply to persons re-
siding on or near the waters of the Potowmac river, and its tribu-
tary streams, in the county of Westmoreland, and the counties below
Westmoreland, on the Potowmac river.
Cornmencoment.  2. This act shall be in force from and after its passing.
CHAP. 77.-An ACT to amend the act, entitled, an act to amend and reduce
into one act all acts and parts of acts to prevent the destruction of oysters,
passed March 24th, 1831.

be recovered by warrant before any justice of the peace either of

for their acts.  slons of this act, (to establish which no previous conviction of the
slave shall be necessary,) shall be held answerable for such act of
his, her or their slave, as if such act was committed by such mas-
ter, mistress or employer in person, and subject to the same penal-
ties and forfeitures.
Cummencernent.  3. This act shall bo in force from its passage.
CHiAP. 78.-An ACT to amend an act, entitled, an act to reduce into one act
the several acts concerning mills and mill.dams, and other obstructions to
water courses, passed the second of March, 1820.
