1. lie it enacted by the General .Issembly, That the public Cts Taxes fot' 186.
for the year one thousand eight hundred and twenty-six, shall be
its follows, to wit: on lands, for every hundred dollars value On lanls;
thereof, (agreeably to the act, for arranging the counties into
districts, for the election of seintors, and for equaliving the land
tax, passed February the eigltteeuth, one thousanud viht hundred
and seventeen ; and the act further to amend and explain the
act, entitled, ani act for arranging the counties int districas, for
the election of senators, and for equalizing the 1111l taI, passed
March the first, one thousand eight hundred anti nineteer,) eight
cents ; for all houses and lots in town, two dollars and three cents otesund lots in
for every hundred dollars of yearly rent or annual value thereof; towns;
for all houses anti lots improve(], and not rented or occupied, and
all unimproved lots in any city, town or borough, eight cents for
every hundred dollars value thereof, agreeably to the above recited
acts, for arranging tie counties into districts for 'lie election of
senators, and for equalizing the lan,! tax ; fror every slave above Slaves;
the age of twelve years, (except such as have been, or may be ex-
etnpt, in consequence of age or infirmity, by the respective county
or corporation courts,) forty.seven cents; for every stallion or Ilorses, oes, ko.I
jack ass, twice the price at which such stallion or jack ass covers
a mare by tie season ; for all other horses, asses, mares, mules and
colts, twelve cents each; for every ordinary license, or license to Ordhinries anti
keep a house of private entertainment, seven dollars for every houss tfprivstc
hundred dollars of yeariy rent or value thereof, such rent or va-
lue to be ascertained by the commissioner ol the revenue in the
manner prescribed by law: Provided, That, for no such licensel
a less sum than eighteen dollars.shall be paid : And provided also,
lhat when any house of private entertainment shall be of less
value than seven hundred dollars, but one fourth of the stin afore-
said. shall be charged for such license : And provided further,
That no tax shall be levied on any house of private entertainment,
