ral acts concerning slaves, free negroes and mulattoes.
Commencement.   2. This act shall be in force from the passage thereof.
CHAPTER 105.-An act authorising Jerry Peebles, a free man of colour, to re-
main within this Commonwealth.
[Passed Febaary 10th, 1825.)
Jerry Peebles,  1. Be it enacted by the General Alssembb, That Jerry, other-
permitted tore- wise called Jerry Peebles, a free mian of ,,olour of the county of
Bide, its a fiee
man,in counties Nicholas, shall be, and lie is hereby permitted to remain as a free
or Greenlnier and man within this Coinmnonwealtit, and to reside in the counties of
Nicholas.     Greenbrier and Nicholas: Provided, however, That if the said
Proviso.
In whate vent, and Jerry, otherwise called Jerry Peebles, shall hereafter be convicted,
how this pcrnis. by the verdict of ajury and the judgment of a court, of ary oflhnce
sion may bereso, aainst the laws or this Commonwealth, it shall be lawful for the
court (of that county or corporation within which the conviction
may be had, or the court for the county of Greenbrier or Nicho.

sumnmoned to shew cause against it, to revoke the leave of resi-

revocation.   such order or judgment of revocation, the said Jerry, otherwise
called Jerry Peebles, shall remain within this Commonwealth
more than twelve months, lie shall forfeit his right to freedom, and
be apprehended and sold in the manner provided by the act, enti-
tled,  an act reducin, into one act, the several acts concerning
slaves, free negroes ana mulattoes.
Comeneniecnt.  2. This act shall commence and be in force, from and after the

CHAPTER 10.-An nct divorcing Evelina Roane from her husband Newman H.
Roane.
[Passed January 12th, 1825.]
Divorce granted  1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly, That Evelina Roane,
Evelina Roane a wife of Newman B. Roane of the county of K  .; William, shall be,
mi.o iatimo, and she is hereby, forever divorced from the said Newman B.
and the power and authority of the said Newman B. over the
person and property of the said Evelina, and over the person and
property of the child or children of the said Evelina, shall hence-
