[Passed December 21st, 182%1 1. Be it enacted by the 14eneral lssemiy, That thirty acres of Town established. land, the property or Moses Shepherd, in Ohio county, so soon as the same shall be laid out into lots, with convenient streets, be established a town, by the name of Shepherdsville: and that Me- Name of trui- ses Shepherd, Josias Thompson, Ninian Beal, John Thornburgh, tees. and James Arbuckle, be, and they are hereby appointed trustees thereofE 2. The trustees of the said town, and their successors, or a '.heirpowers,tQo- majority of them, are hereby empowered to make such by-laws make by.laws. and ordinances, for the regulation and good government of said town, and the same to amend, alter, or repeal, and enforce obe- dience thereto by such penalties as they may think proper, not exceeding ten dollars for any one olftnce, recoverable by an ac- tion of debt in the name of the said trustees, or any one of them, before any justice of the peace for the said county of Ohio ; to make such rules and orders for the regular building of houses therein, as to them shall seem best; to settle and determine all disputes concernin the bounds of the lots, and the regulations of the streets: Provided, That such by-laws, ordinances,-rules, and regulations, shall not be repugnant to, inconsistent with, or be construed so as to violate the laws of this state. 5. The said trustees, or a majority of them, shallhave power to Tn cansenui- remove or abate nuisances, or cause the same to be done ; to in- sances to be aba- prove and repair the public streets and alleys ; and to do, or cause ted, &c. to be done, all other things necessary and proper for the general good, ad welfare of the town aforesaid. Vacancies, by death or otherwise, of any one or more of the Vacancie, among said trustees, shall be supplied by the remaining trustees; and them, h,w to be the person or persons so elected, shall have the same power as the original trustee, in whose stead lie or they may have been elected to serve.
