thereof, if this act had not been made.
Commencement.   2. This act shall be in force from the passing thereof.
CIIAPTLR 10.-An act authorising Charles V. 1. Jerome to hold certain reu
property within this comunaiwealth, and for other purposes.
(Passed February 21st, 18 .]
Preamble.       Whereas it is represented to vie General Assembly, that
Charles W. I. Jerome, a native of Germany, purchased certain
lands in. this Commonwealth, in his own right, and, in conjunction
with certain other foreigners, purchased other lauds lying in this
state and the state of Kentucky, which last mentioned lands were
conveyed to trustees, (the said Jerome being one,) for the benefit
of the purchasers ; and whereas the said Charles W. !. Jerome,
who has in due form declared his intention of becoming a citizen
of the United States, hath petitioned the legislature that he may
be authorised by law to hohl the lands purchased by him in his
own right, and so much of said lands purchased as aforesaid in
conjunction with said other persons as were purchased for his
benefit:
