1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly, That the public Taxes for 182t

house of private entertainment shal be of less value than seven
hundred dollars, but one fourth of the sum aforesaid shall be
charged for keeping the same: and provided further, that, no tax
shall be levied on a house of private entertainment, unless the
same be situated within a town, borough, or city, or within eight
hundred yards actual distance from some public road, or hi hwaT;
for every two wheeled riding carriage, not exceeding with t e Carrages;
harness belonging thereto) one hundred dollars value, fifty cents;
and for every like carriage and harness, above the value of one
hundred dollars, one per centum on the excess of the value of

thereto; for every phaeton and stage waggon, not exceeding (with
the harness belonging thereto) two hundred dollars value, two
dollars and fifty cents; and for every like carriage and harness
above the value of two hundred dollars, one per centum on the
excess of the value of such carriage, above tw~o hundred dollars,
in addition thereto ; for every riding carriatre, not exceeding (with

dollars ; and for such other carriages as, (together with their har-
