the importation of the said slaves, into this Commonwealth as
aforesaid.
Commencement.   2. This act shall be in force from the passage thereof.
CIIAPTEIt CLXXIIH.-An act concerning Henry Hines.
[Passed .January 2nd, 1819.]
reanble.      Whereas it is represented to the General Assembly, by Henry
Hines of the county of Patrick, that, during the last summer, lie
sold a certain negro girl known by the name of Lucy, to a certain
inhabitant of the county of Surry, in the State of North Carolina;
that soon thereaftdr, lie purchased, in the same county anti state, a
negro girl known by the name of Hannah, aged about eight years,
and immediately brought her into this Comnmonwealth; that lie was
totally ignorant of the act of the Legislature which required him
to have certificates of exportation and importation certified and
recorded within a certain period, which period has expired ; and
the said Hlenry Hines having petitibned the Legislature to be au-
ihorized by law to retain the said slave in this Commonwealth :

the importation of the said slave into this state as aforesaid.

passnae thereof.
UIIAP'EIt GLXXIV.-An act concerning Ilenry )upree.
[Passed January 11th, 1819.]
rreamWe.        Whereas it is represented to the present General Assembly, by
Henry Dupree of the county of Greensville, that a certain Michael
Warren departed this life during the last year, in the State of
North Carolina, possessed of a number of slaves, which lie devised
to'be sold for the purpose of eflecting an equal division thereof
among the said Dupree and other legatees ; that, at the sale thus
directed by the said Warren, which took place in December last,
the said Dupree purchased slaves to the amount of his interest in
said estate, and caused them to be' removed to his residence in
the county of Greensville, for his own personid service : and the
said Henry Dupree having petitioned the Legislature to be per-
mitted to retain the said slaves in this state :

into this Commonwealth, as aforesaid.
