JOINT RESOL UION to provide Jor the Payment of the State 2noops.
WJinisAs, the State troops were called out. by the proclamation of His Excel-
lency Governor Lubbock, In 1862, and tbese troops were transferred to the
Confederate Commander of the State of Texas; and, whereas, supplies to meet
the wants of these troops wore furnished by Individual advancement and credit,
&c., which have not been, reimbursed or met by either State or Confederacy:
TJherefore, be it resolved by ihe Legislature of tile Stale of Texas, That the
Adjutant and Inspector General of the State be and Is hereby Instructed to
inquire Into the cause of the non-payment of any or all claims in the premises,
and to take such stops as will properly adjust tim rights of all concerned,

CHAPTER V.
JOINT RESOL UTION in relatilon to Public Pinting for Ih Thidh Legisbture.
1. Be it enacted by the Legislurture of the State of Texas, That the Secretary of
State, Comptroller and Treasurer, or a majority of them, be required to proceed
immediately after the adjournment of the Tcnth Legislhture, to contract for the
Public Printing, as nearly as may be in accordance with existing laws ; and
that this resolution take effect from and after its passage.

CHAPTER VI.
JOINT RESOLUTION.
WjmitEA,, the present war, waged by the Government ot th United States
upon the Government, people and property of the Confederate Staties, is with-
out precedent in its atrocious and unchristian character; and, whereas, the
comparative exemption of our own dear State from many of th inore dire
concomitants of war, may haive been construed as a cause for our unanimity in
sustaining our Government :
I. Therefore, be it enacted by the lej.isllure of thw Stlte o~f 'Teas, That now
that our presumptuous enemy troads our soil In heavy number and numeaclog
attitude, we bid him a proud and scornful defiance.
2. That we pledge to our sister States, that in this struggle, our authorities
and our people will avlnco a patriotism and endurance as great as tmo occasion
and as prolonged as the conflict.
3. 1 hat although as a tree people, we have exercised time right of criticism
upon the acts of our President and his Cabinet, yet we here record our full
confidence in the patriotism and ability of President )avis; and do furthermore
declare, that if remitted now to our option, we would not exchange 1011 for any
citizen of the Confederacy, as the pilot to carry us through the present stormy
ftruggle for liberty as a people, and for independcme as a nation.
