anii.after the passage of this act it shall not be lawful tr ay owueror employ.

SS~o. 2. That every farmer or stock raiser is heieby required to keep a free
white person upon and In chargp of any farml or stock rauche, wherohe may
have slaves not immediately under his own control, and connected Iwith bl or
her one or residence.,
SEc. 3. That any person violating the provisions of this act, shall be subject
to at fine not less than fifty nor more than, one hundred dollars, for each and
e i-,ry violation.
SEc. 4. That the District Judges aro required to give this at in charge to
the GrandJur'li.s ; and it shall tale eflect and he in force forty days after its
passage.

CIAPTER LIV.
AN ACT to authorize and regulate funding in loan bonds.
SueTION i. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Texas, That any
audited indebtedness of the State shall be receivable in payment for its loan
bonds.
I Sa:. 2. Any indeltedness of the State for any special fund, which has been
or may be uased by the State, under any law, shall be substituted, as far as
practicable, by loan bonds of the State, which shiall enure to the benefit of the
interest entitled to such fnd, until it, shall be reimbursed, aid the bonds b6
thereby re-purchased, when they shall be subjoet to re.sale, as if they had not
been so used ; and such adjustments shall be made by the Goernor, Comptrol.
ler, and Treasur'er, acting )by a majority.
Sc.. 3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
Approved January 13th, 1862.
CHAPTER LV.
AN AOT to suspend tl e Statute of Linmitations on bills, bonds, promissory notes,
aild all c6ntracts for the payment qf inondy, until the 1st dagJ of January, 1804,
or until six mont/is'afler the close of the present war.
