said company, within three years from and after the passage
of this act, to construct a good, substantial, safe and convenient
bridge across the Trinity river, opposite the town of Dallas,
in Dallas county, and it shall be the duty of said company to
keep said bridge in safe and convenient repair during the term
of thirty years. And that this act take effect and be in force
from and after its passage.

CHAPTER CLVI.
An Act to incorlorate the town of Anderson, Grimes county,
Texas.
SECTIO1 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature qf the State qf
Texas, That the citizens of the town of Anderson in Grimes
county, be, and they are hereby declared to le a body politic and
corporate, under the name and style of the corporation of the
town of Anderson, and by that name may sue and be sued,
plead and be impleaded, and hold and dispose of real and
personal property, providcd such real property is situated
within the limits of said corporation, and for the use and ben-
efit of the same.
SEc. 2. That it shall be the duty of the citizens of said.
corporation to elect a Mayor, five Aldermen and a Constable
who shall hold their office for twelve months, and until their
successors are elected and qualified.
8EC. 3. That the first election shall be held under the di-
rection and by order of the Chief Justice of the county of
Grimes, after giving ten days notice thereof, and the annual
election shall ie under the direction and blr order of the May-
or, lie giving ten days notice of said election, previ.us to the
expiration of his term of office, and in case the Chief Justice
in the first instance, or the Mayor thereafter, shall fail or re-
fuse to order an election as above required, then tile same
may be ordered at any time thereafter, by any three free hold-
ers, citizens, living within the said corporation they giving the
same notice that is required of the Chief Justice and Mayor.
SEc. 4. That in case of a vacancy in any office of Alder-
man or Constable, by death, resignation or otherwise, it shall
be the duty of the Mayor to order an election to fill said va-
cancy or vacancies, after giving notice as required in section
