of the S tate of Texas.
Si,,o. 18. That all citizens who are entitled to vote for countty
officers, shall be eligible to votd for ollicers created by this act;
Jr'ovihle(, they live within said corporation.
SEc. 19. That this act take effect and be in force, front and
after its passage, and that all laws in conflict with this net be,
and tile same are hereby repealed.

CH!APTER LVI.
An Act to Incorporate the Town of Dallas.
SEOriON 1. Be it enaceted by lhe  orlvaturc of the St
Texas, That the citizens of the towi of Dallas be, and they a 1o
ieroby declared a body corporate, by tihe name and style of th'e
corporation of' the town of Dallas, and by that narne Inay site
and he suted, lead and be imleaded, and may hold and dis-
pose of property both real anid personal.
Sme. '2. That the limits of said corporation shail be as fol-
lows: Beginning at the water's edge at the east bank of the
Trinity River, opposite the centre of the plblic square ; thence
south parallel with the streets of said town, according to the
town plot, one quarter of it mile ; thence east parallel with the
strects, one halt a mile ; and thence north parallel with streets,
one half a mile ; thence west parallel with tei streets one half
a mile, or to the Trinity river ; thence south along with tile
mneanderings of' said T,'inity river, one quarter of' a tmile to the
place of beginning
SiC. 3. That an election for Mayor and six Alderman, a
'rouv',tzrer Recorder and Constable shall be held as soon as
practicable after the p1assage 1' this act, by the Chief i'is-
tice of' l)allas coijnty, or two of the County Commnissioner 't.

election shall be condlucted bty the Mayor or it majority of
the Alderman actin at tim time of' such election, and the per-
sons elected shall continue in offico one year or until their suc-
cessors are duly qualified ; and the annual election for Mayor,
Aldermen, Treasmret, Recorder and Constable, shall be held at
such place in the town of ])allas as may be designated by tihe
board lr the convenience of the people.
