the rights and intercsts of said institution, the same as individuals
may of right do in the management of their own private affairs.
See. 3. That the Master and Wardens, in conjunction with the
brethren of said Lodge, have power to frame such ordinances and
by laws as shall appear to them necessary for the good government
of said institution; provided, the same be not repugnant to the
laws and constitution of this State; to employ competent olicers
and instructors, and fix the salaries of the same, with the power of
removal for neglect of duty or misconduct in office.
See. 4. That the Trustees of said institution, by and with the
recommendation or consent of the preceptors, shall have full power
to grant or confer such degree or degrees in the arts and sciences
to any of the students of said institute thought worthy, as are
usually granted or conferred in similar seminaries of learning; to
give diplomas or certificates of the same, with adequate marks and
designations to authenticate and perpetuate the memory of such
degrees and graduations.

CHAPTER XV.
An Act for the relief of W. D. Thompson & Co., assignees of John
Simonds.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of
Texas, That the Adjutant General be, and he is hereby authorized
to issue to W. D. Thompson & Co., assignees of .John Simonds, a
land warrant for three hundred and twenty acres of land, upon
their filing in his office a regularly authenticated chain of tranf4er
from said Simonds.
See. 2. That this act take effect from and after its pasisage.
