Suppletentaty toan act organizing the, Inferior Courts, and de$,
ing the powers and jurisdiption of the same.,',,
Be it 'enacted by the siiiate, and. house of repkesentaties of the
republic of Teias, in congres assembled, That tb e representatives ,-
of each county, of this-reptublic, or elther of them, be, and are.
hereby authorized and required to administer the necessary oths
of olfice to the different chief justices and justices of the peace
for the different countiesq so soon  as -they may have been'elected,

SEc. !. Be it Cnacted by the senate and: house of representa.
iives of the republic ofTexas, in congress, assei.bled, That th
county courts of the several counties of this republit, shall -have
full power to order the layingout ptblic roads, when necessery, .
and to discontinue or aler such roads as shall at any time prove
useless.
Sue. 2. Be it further enacted, ThiWwhcnever it shall be
deemed necessary to lay out any new road, the county court shall
appoint at least five 1reeholders or householders, who shallbe
