CHAPTER 72.
AN ACT to amend the CrimIinal Laws of this State, and for other purposes.
SixcnoN 1. Be it enacted by the Gencral Assembly of the
State of Tennessec, That the first and second sections of
the act of 1833, chapter 3, sliall hereafter apply to the
various railroad companics, their ollicers, agents, and.
servants in-this State, and that all the pains and penlal-
ties imposed by said aot shall apply to said railroads.
S:e. 2. Be it further emcted, That hereifter no genc-
ral law, passed at any session of the General Assembly, When laws go
shall go into operation, or have any binding lfect, until  1 intofect.
after the expiration of fbrty days afler the adjournment,
sine (lie, of the General Assembly, and that no law o2 a
private character shall go into effect until after the ex-
piration of twenty days after the adjournient, unless
otherwise provided, in either case, in tIe act declaring
such law.
See. 3. Be it enacted, That it shall not he lawfil for
any free person of color, in this State, to engage in the Neroes not to
)usiness of peddling or bartering, by making a business  peddle.

Se. 4. Be it enactedl, That every lio person of color
who shall violate tihe third section of this act, sh]all be
guilty of a. misdemcanor; and upon com iction of tile
same, upon ipdicttment or presentment, shal he fined not
less than fifty dollars.
Sec. 5. ic it enacted, That this act shall not take
effect until the first day of April, 185(3.
