sion to the lessee, he, the owner, should have know-
ledge or information, that the house was to be leased
for keeping a billiard table for use, in which case, the
lessee [lessor] shall be responsible for the penalty pre-
scribed in the second section of said act. '

CHAPTER CLX.
AN ACT to construe the lawe of this State in relation to fee persons of color.
Be it enacted ly the General Assembly of the State of
Tennessee, That an act passed on the 4th of !.chruary,
1842, shall not be so construed as to require pirons of
color, who were Lbrn free in the State of Tenne.;sec, to
give bond to keep the peace, and to be of good be-
havior towards all free white citizens of thi  State.
Provided howver, If any such free personis .t' color
become disorderly in their conduct, then ni in that
case, it shall be the duty of the county coort where
such free person of color may reside, to catme him, her
or them to be hired out not less than one nor iaore than
five years, the proceeds of such hiring to * be :pplied
first to the payment of' all cost incurred, :11d the bal-
ance to the treasury, and if such free pwrons oi' color
shJll refuse to work when hired, or should r'u:. Or from
his employer, then such free person shall be arison-
ed at the discretion of' the court. And if ie persons
required by the county court to give bond aid acurity,
shall fail and refuse, at the next court after bein- served
with the order of the court to give the same, thy shall
be subject to all the penalties of the act of Ia:' ..
