CHAPTER CLXXXIV.
An Act to extend the provisions of the act of February 4th, 1842.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the
Free persons State. of Tennessee, That the .provisions of the act passed
of color.  4th February, 1842, entitled an act to amend the laws
now in force in relation to free persons of color be extend-
ed to. all cases where a free person of color shall have mar-
ried a..alave in another State, and such slave shall have
been,.or may be removed by his or her owner to this State
to settle and remain herein: Provided, That such marriage
may not have taken place with the view on the part of
such free person of color to become an inhabitant of this
State. In the base provided for in this act, such free person
of cclor shall be exempted from. the penalties of the act
of 1831, chap. 102, sec.. 1st, by the permission of the.coun-
ty court of 'he county where he or shemay propose to live
with his or her wife orhusbanid, being a slave as aforesaid,
upon complying with all the provisions of said act of Feb-
ruary 4th, 1842,in the mode and manner therein prescribed
for the cases to which' it relates.
.SEc. 2. Be it enactcd, That when a, free man of color
Intermarriage has intermarried with a female' slave, in. this State, apd the
with slaves,  owner of such female slave will give bond and security be-
fore the county court for the good behaviour of such free
man of color and he shall be of good character, the said
free man of. color may be permitted to remain in this State
so long as he continues of good character. But should he
become otherwise, said court may make an order'for him to
remove in thirty days, and upon his failing to comply with
such order he shall forfeit all the benefit of this act.

Beit enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Ten-
nessee, That the trustees of the counties of Overton, Jack-
son and White are required to settle with the former school
commissioners of the districts in said counties, and if upon
