CHAPTER LXXXVIII.
An Act to authorize the several county cou rts in this State to elect a coroner on
the first day of the term.
Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of the State of Ten-
nessee, That the county, courts of the several counties in
this State may hereafter elect-their coroners on the first day
of their session.

CHAPTER LXXXIX.
An Act to repeal the act of 1831, chap. 47.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Ten-
nessee, That the act of 1831, chap. 47, sections three and
four, be and the same are hereby repealed.  '

An Act to tax and regulate Tippling'and Tippling houses, and to increase thpRev-
\         enue.
License to  SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the
sell liquor.  State of Tennessee, That it shall and iay be lawful for any
person or persons to vend or sell spiritous or vinous liquors
by any quantity the purchaser or purchasers may desire,w'ith
the following conditions: that before entering into said busi-
ness, he, she or they shall go before the clerk of the county
court of the coity itl which he, she or they wish to sell spi-
ritous or vinous liquors, and to-make oath that the amount of
spiritous or vinous liquors at bis, her or their establishment
does not exceed two hundred and fifty dollars, on which affi-
davit he, she or they shall pay a tax of twenty-five dollars to
said clerk for the use of the State, together, with such ad-
ditionalsum-notexceeding the State tax forcounty and cor-
