SEc. 2. That if any county has not paid over to the Su-
perintendant of Public Instruction, as much principal and in-
terest as will amount to the sum received by the agent and Trustee
charged to said county, the coniptroller shall ascertain the
deficiency, and retain the same out of the sum annually dis-
tributed to. said county until such principal is paid, and then
the comptroller shall hand over the uncollected debts of said
fund, belonging to such comity, to the Trustee of said county.
SEc. 3. Be it enacled, That the distribution of the inter- D
est and uncollected debts, shall be so made as to give the ietribution
new coun ties their due proportion to be ascertained in man-
ner prescribed in the 13th section of the act of 1840, chap.
38, and other laws upon this subject.
SEC. 4. That til Trustees of the respective counties, are
hereby authorised to collect said debts, and by the consent of onpromice
the county court, may compromise said debts or make any
disposition of said debts that the court may direct.

CHAPTER CLX.
An act to provide in certain cases, for tho disposition of slaves acquitted
of i ulony, on thao plea of insanity.
SctIoN 1. Be it enacted b. thc General Assembily of the
Siole of Tennrsec, That it shall be the duty of the Keeper of Duty or the
the Penitcntiary, to receive from the oflicers of the Lunatic KUepor
Asylum, or from the Jailor of any county of this State, any
slave that having been heretofore or being hereafter acquit-
ted of felony on the pleia of insanity, shall have been or shall
be dismissed as cured by the said Trustees of the said Luna-
tic Asylum, and that the said Keeper of the Penitentiary
shall confine and employ in some menial pursuit, such slave,
in the same manner that convicts under his charge are now
by direction of. law, confined and compelled to labor, until a
release is ordered in the mode hereinafter prescribed.
SEC. 2. Be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of the
comptroller to examine and adjust the claims of the Juilor Jailr of Da
of Davidson county, for confining persons of the kind de- vidson o'ty
scribed in the preceding section of this act. and that the
amount of such claims shall be paid to said Jailor out of any
