An Act more effect untly to preserve order and to prevent accidents on Turnpike aid AleAdanized roads. SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Drivers to give State of Tennessee, That it shall he the duty of all persons haif tie road driving, or having under his, her :r their charge or manage- ment, alny wagon, carriage, coach, cart or any other vehicle whatever, on any turnpike road or McAdamized road in this State, on meeting any other wagon, carriage, coach, cart, or any other vehicle whatsoever, to give one half of the road to said other wagon, carriage, coach, cart, or other vehicle, by turning to the right respectively so as not to in- terfere in such passing. SEc. 2. 3e itfutlher enacted, That all drivers of any OfwistlingtopaessllCh wagon, carriage, coach, cart, or other vehicle shall, when any carriage wagton, coach, cart, or other vehicle shall (vertake and wish to pass them or it as the case may be on said road, to give at least one half of the road to any such wagon, carriage, coach, cart or other vehicle, by turn- ing to the right, so as n3t to interfere in such passing as aforesaid; and of all drivers of any wagon, stage or other vehicle, when the same shall overtake or come up to any wagon, stage or other vehicle, and whish to pass it or them as the case may be, on said roads, to give at least one half of the road to such wagon, stage or other vehicle, by turn- ing to the left, so as not to interfere in passing as aforesaid; and it shall be the duty of all drivers of wagons, carriages, coaches, carts and other vehicles, and of all persons at- tached to such wagons, carriages, coaches, carts, or other vehicles, to pass all carriages, wagons, coaches, 6arts and other vehicles, in a quiet, orderly and peaceable manner; and if any driver or other person as aforesaid, shall crack or pop his whip, or make any noise of any kind soever, in- tended to disturb or frighten any horse or horses, or other aniiial whatsoever, attached to any such carriage, wagon, coach, cart, or other vehicle, in any such passing, as is men- Digitized from Best Copy Available
