An Act to authorize Thomas Hankins and John Large, Executors ofthe estate of William Hankins, deceased, of Grainger county, to emanci- pate a negro man, Samuel. SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the County court State of Tennessee, That it shall be lawful for the countyof Grainger court of Grainger county, at any time hereafter, upon the may emnci- petition of Thomas Hankins and John Large, executors of the estate of William Hankins, deceassd, of said county, setting forth that they are desirous that the said slave Sam- uel, may be emancipated, to order the same to be done accordingly: Provided, that before the emancipation of said slave, said executors shall give bond and sufficient se- curity payable to the chairman of said court, in a sum equal to the value of said slave, conditioned to indemnify each and every county in this State, against the mainten- ance of said slave so emancipated, and also for his good behavior: And provided also, that the will of said William Hankins has authorized or requested the said executors to have said slave Samuel set free.
