CHAPTER XLV.
An Act for the benefit of Thomas J..Barker, a min of colour.
 SEC. 1. Be it enacted by Mte General Assembly of the State
Benefit extend.                                  .
ed to.    of Tennessee, That the county court of Davidson county,
a majority of the acting Justices of the Peace of said coun-
ty being present, shall be and is hereby authorized upon
the petition ofThos.J. Barker, a free man of colour, a cili-
Zen of said county of Davidson, to emancipate the wife
and children of said Barker, provided the said Barker
shall give bond and security to be approved by said court
that the persons so emancipated, shall not become char-
geable upon any county of this State, and also for his
good behaviour.
SEc: 2. Be it enacted, That the county court of Blount
Lot Stering county, a majority of the Justices of said county being
present, is hereby authorized upoi the petition of Lot
Sterling, a free man of colour, a citizen of said county
of Blount, to emancipate the wife and children of the
said Sterling, under the same rules, regulations and re-
strictions as provided in the first section of this act.

CHAPTER XLVI.
An Act authorizing the County Courts or the county of Greene
and Washington counties, to appoint each a Surveyor, to run a
part of the dividing line between said counties.
Src. 1. Be it' enacted by the General Assembly of the
AuthoritygW- State of Tennessee, That the county courts of Greene
nthryand Washington are hereby authorized-a majority of
the acting justices being present and giving their assent
thereto-to appoint each a qualified Surveyor for the
purpose of running and marking so much of the dividing
line between said counties as lies between Michael Broy-
also's house on Horse Creek,andthe State line of North
Carolin~a, or such portion 'of it as has never heretofore
been run.
Src. 2. Be, it enacted, That it shall be the diy of the
Duty ot Sur Surveyors thus appointed, to run and plainly mark said
Yeyors.   line, and make report of the same to the county court of
each county,and upon the reception of said report, the
court shall allow them such compensation out of the
county treasury, as they may deem reasonable.
