Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Slate of Tennessee, That all assemblages of slaves in unusual UsoawraI O numbers or at suspicious times and places not expressly blaor sla. authorized by the owners, shall be held and considered an unlawful assemblage, and shall be dispersed by any patroller of the bounds or any constable or Justice of the Peace of the county, or by any person authorized by such Justice of the Peace to do so; and in all cases where such persons so assembled, shall fail or refuse to disperse when required to do so, and allowed a reasona- ble time Ibr that purpose, any such patroller, constable, Justice or other person by him authorized as aforesnid, may take to their aid, sufficient assistance and inflict on the offenders any number not exceeding twenty five lashes. SEC. 2.
