due and ought to have been paid over.
Soc. 2.-Be it enacted, That the commissioner Compensaticn
appointed agreeable to the provision of the first to  commis
section of this act, shall receive the sum of two SIoner.
dollars for each and every day he or they may be
necessarily engaged in performing the duties of
their said office, to be paid out of any monies in the
,hands of said entry taker, or the monies paid by
said entry taker into the hands of the agent of the
new bank.
SEC. 3. Be it enacted, That the said commis-
sioner shall examine the file of locations and see Location files

that they are regularly recorded, and in case of ed e
(lefault in that case, shall be guilty of the penalties
heretofore prescribed.

AN ACT, revising and amending the laws pro-

State, as articles of merchandize.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General As-
semblyj of the State of Tennessee, That. it shall

not bei lawful for any person or persons to import brought into
into this State, any slave or slaves, either for life the state ex.
oir any shorter period, for the purpose of selling or cept .cor use,
disposiiig of them or any of them, as articles ofor procured
merchandize within this State ; Provided, nothing b  descent,
herein contained shall he so construed as to prevent riag6.
any person or persons frtnm removing to.this State
together with all their slaves, whether slaves for
life or any shorter, period, or from bringing into
this State any such slave or slaves Wihich may have
been acquired by them by descent, devise, marri-
age or purchase for their own particular use, in the
same manner as heretofore.
