SETION 1. Be it enacted by the General JOssembly
* f he State of Tennessee, That the fourth section of
the above-reci ted act be, and the same is hereby, re-
pealed ; and hereafter, if any persin or persons shall
lire to any slave or slaves the time of such slave, the.
person or persons so offinding, shall forfeit and pay
not less than one dollar, nor more than tw o dollars
for cach and every (lay such slave or slaves shall have
hired his, her, or their time, and been absent fron
the owner oi* owners. to be recovered by 'any person
who will suefor the same, one half to the use of the
person suing, aind the other half to the use of the coun-
ty in which the suit may be breught.

Tax on 1  S  ~cTlOw 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly.
cese$5000.of the State of Tenvessee, That each broker or factor,
dealing in'gold or silver, or in the notes of banks of
this state, of any other state, or of the United States,
or in drafts or bills of exchange drawn for the pay-
ment of money, by buying and.sellitig the sanm', shall
be bound, on or before the first dyofJaniry next,
and at .th& end of every subsequent year,.to apply to
the clei.k of the court of Pleas and Quarter-Sessions
of the cointy in which he shall reside, lor a license
to follow such lhusitiess for the terirol twelve months
thereafter, which li ense the clerk shall be bound to
issne upon sic 'applicant's paying to him five thonu-
std dollars at the time of obtaining said license;
