w       Sec. I. Be it enacted by' the General AshmbiU of the.
keptp i     state oj Tennessee, That there shall be elected by joint
pV,,        ballot of both houses of this general assembly; two suit.
able persons to open and keep in repair that 'part 6f
ihe rord lead ng from Virginia ind North Carolina to
Xezitucky, rhich lies between theccross roads at the place
calldd Bean's Station in Grain at county, and the ford of
Sycaniore creek in Cliiborne county, crossing Clinch
mountain at the three stone gap, and to erect a turnpike
tiereon, when putin repair, and keep the same for the
term of ten years ri-oin the expiration of the term for
which a turnpike hs heretefQre been established thereon,
at such place on said road as they may deein froper, to be
called the proprieiors bf said roaui.
Sec.2. Be itfurther enacted, That Th6;ins Gill ind
.Williani Graham be, and the are hereby appointed com-
missioners of said road, and shall examine the ground 0-
ver which the present road passes, and whether any better
* wiay can be procured for any part or parts of sail road,
