AN ACT TO MAKE APPROPRIATIONS FOR THE YEAR COMMENCING IN
OCTOBER, ONE THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED AND FIFTY-NINE.              No. 4436.
I. Be it enactcd by the Senate and House of Representatives, now met Approritilons.
and sitting in 6 cnoral Assombly, and by the authority of the stune, That
the following sums be, and they are hcrehy, appropriated for the payment of
the various officers and expenses of the State Government, that is to say : In
the Executive Department: For the salary of the Governor, three thousand par rumt,
five hundred dollars ; for the Private Secretary of the Governor, five hun-
dred dollars ; for the Messenger of the Governor, two hundred and fifty dol-
lars; for the Contingent Fund of the Executive Department, ten thousand
dollars, to be subject to the draft of the Governor, and to be accounted for,
annually, by him, to the Logislature; for the rent of the Governor's House,
in Columbia, three hundred dollars.
II. In the Legislative Department: For the pay of the Members of the Lgishitivo lo-
Legislature, and the Attorney General, and the Solicitors, during the present Patment.
session, and of the Committees appointed to inspect the Bank of the State
and its branches, twenty-five thousand dollars, if so much be necessary; for
the salaries of the Clerks of the Senate and House of R epresentatives, one
thousand two hundred dollars each ; and to the said Clerks, for the services
of two Assistant Clerks, two hundred and fifty dollars for the Clerk of the
House, and two hundred and fifty dollars for the Clerk of the Senate ; for
the salaries of two Messengers and two Doorkeopers, each two hundred and
fifty dollars, to be paid at the adjournment of the Legislature; for the
salary of the Kooper of the State House and Librarian, seven hun-
dred dollars; for the salaries of the Reading Clerks of the Senate and House
of Representatives, each two hundred and fifty dollars; for extra services of
the Messenger of the Senate, fifty dollars, and for extra services of the Mes-
senger of the House of Representatives, fifty dollars, to be paid at the end of
the session; for the services of the Engrossing Clerks, to be paid under the
direction of the President of the Senate and of the Speaker of the House of
Representatives, six hundred dollars; for the Printers of the Senate and
House of Representatives, in pursuance of the contracts made by the
Conmittees of both Houses, twelve thousand dollars, if so umuch be neces-
sary, for the printing executed by the said Printers during the present session
of the Legislature, the sano to be paid to them as soon as the amounts of
the said contracts shall be ascertained by the Treasurer of' the Upper Di-
vision ; for the Printer, for printing, in pamphlet form, the Acts and Jour-
nals of both Houses, Reports and Rosolutions agreed to, the Governor's Mes-
sages, Reports of' the President of the Bank and Comptroller Ocnoral, with
the accompanying documents, throe thousand seven hundred mnd fifty dol-
lars, if so much be necessary; Pr'ovided', That the number of copies speci-
