AN ACT TO -XxMPT SAMUEL RIVERS COX, A FRIE PERSON OF COLOR, k
ROM CAPITATIoN TAx.                             No. 4482.
I. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives, now met
and sitting in General Assembly, and by the authority of the same, That
from and after the ratification of this Act, Samuel Rivers Cox, a free person
of color, be and he is hereby exempted from the payment of the Capitation Mr   '
Tax which is now, or hereafter may be imposed by law on free persons of
color.
In the Senate House, the twenty-first day of December, in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and fifty-eight, and in the eighty-third year of
the sovereignty and independence of the United States of America.

AN ACT TO PUNISH ASSAULTS COMMITTED WITH CONCEALED WEAPONS. No. 4488.
I. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives, now met and
sitting in General Assembly, and by the authority of the same, That if any
person shall hereafter make an assault upon another person with any deadly
weapon, carried concealed about the person, every such person upon convic-
tion, under indictment, shall be fined not less than two hundred, and not Pealty.

exceeding six months, at the discretion of the Court, and shall moreover be
required by the Court to find sureties for the peace and for good behavior
for one year after the termination of such imprisonment.
