Be it enacted, by the Senate and House of Representatives, now met and sitting in Genteral Assenly, That all freo white persons, who now are or may hereafter become members of the following Societies and Associations, to-wit: The Cumberland Church Benevolent Society of the Methodist Episcopal Church, in the City of Charleston ; The Wesleyan Benovolet Society, in etiec incorpo the City of Charleston; The Glebo-Strect Presbyterian Church of Charles- ritted. ton ; The Healing Springs School Association, in Barnwell District; The Soutl-Carolinma Masonic Bolevalent Society, in the City of Charleston I Tie Mechanics Association of Colnubia; The Palmetto Division No. 1, of the Sons of Temperance, be and the same are hereby declared bodies politic and corporate, by the name and style to each above respectively assigned. II. The Societies and Associations aforesaid, siall have succession of officerstr. and members according to their respective hye-laws; and shall have power respectively to make bye-laws not repugnant to the laws of the land ; to have use and heop a common seal, and the same to alter at will, to sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded, in any Court in this State, and to have and enjoy every 441) OF SOUTH CAROLINA.
