Be it entacted, by the ionorable tie Senate and House of Represontatives, now met and sitting in Gemeral Assombly, and by tie autlority of the same, That from and after the ratiliction o[ this Act, when any Slave, or Slavcs, shall have ben carried out of this State, in the capacity of Steward, Cook, Firemon, Enginecr, Pilot or Mariner, on board of any steamer, or other vessel, Ve&qel trading to trading with alty part, or plaeo in the Island of Cuba, it shall and may be law- Cuba.C fll to bring such Slave or Slaves, back into this State, any law, usage, or cus- Proviso. ton, to the contrary notwithstanding ; Provided, Such Slave or Slaves, duling his, or their absence from this State, shall not have been in any port or place, in the West Indics, other than the Island of Cuba, aforesaid, or in any port or place, in Europe, Mexico, or any part of South America, or in any State north of the River Potomac, or of the City of Washington.
