AN ACT TO ESTABLISH CERTAIN ROADS, BRIDGES AND FERRIES.      No. 2984.

same, That the Ferry over the Saluda River, in Abbeville District, known as
Johnson's and Puckett's Ferry, (formerly Swanzey's Ferry,) across the
Saluda River, be, and the same is hereby ro.chartered and vested in J. W. H1.
Johnson and T. R. Puckett, and their heirs and assigns, for the term of
seven years, with the same rates of Toll herctofore allowed by law.
11. That the fullowing Roads in Abbeville District, be, and are here. Roads openemd
by opened and established as Public Roads, viz: a Road leading frominAbbevIIk.
Win. Unrmoro's to J. Agnew's, then to D. 0. lawthorn's, and then to G.
[1. Brownlee's, a distance of about six miles ; and also, a Road from D. 0.
Hawthorn's to J. L, Sim's, from thence to Moses Sharp's, on to H1. H-. Pon.
ny's, and then to Lemuel White's, a distance of about four or five miles.
Ill. That the Road, now known as the Bay Road, on Edisto Island, corn. Day Road,

tremity of Edingsville, be, and the same is hoerby established as a Public
Road, and placed under the control of the Comimissionors of Roads for Saint
John's, Colletun.
IV. The Commissioners of Roads, for the aforesaid Parish, or a majority Cominisioners
of them, are hereby authorized to lay and collect assessmncts, from time to  zamd cx.
time, for the purpose of building and keeping in repair the Bridges on the
said Road ; which assessments shall be paid by each householder in the
village of Edingsville, according to a rate, which will be in proportion
to tile general tax of each individual respectively.
V. That a Road in Union District, beginning at the Tavern of Benjamin Road in Union
Crawford, four miles east of Union Court House, and running frohi thence Ditri cstab-
to Simstown, and from thence to Wood's Ferry, on Broad River, be, and the
same is heriby established as a Public Road.
Vi. That the Bridge over Big Lynch's Creek, on the Stage Road, leading Tiller Bridge

to-wit : for every foot passenger, three cents; forevery man and horse, six and
a quarter cents; for every head of cattle, horses, led or driven, sheep, goats,
hogs and turkeys, one cent; for overy carriage on two wheels, or buggy, Rates of Toll.
