A. D. 1844. which such free negroes or persons of color shall enter, shall be unable to
enforce the provisions of the aforesaid act, by means of the posse comitatus
Governor to and the civil authorities, usually at his comnand, the Governor of this State
rdaer t  J lay, and he is hereby authorized and required, on a requisition and call
the Sherifi  made upon him, and signed by the Sheriff, to order out a sufficient number
of the militia of this State, to meet the exigency of the case, which said mili-
tia shall be, by the Governor of this State, placed under the command of dis.
crect oficers, and have orders to give to the Shoriff within whose District any
such exigency may arise, the assistance that may be necessary to carry into
effect the provisions of the aforesaid act, passed the nineteenth day of De-
comber, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty-five.
In the Senate I-louse, the eighteenth day of December, in the year of our Lord one
thousand etght hundred and forty-four, and in the sixty-ninth year of the Sovereignty
and Independence of the United States of America.

No. 2927. AN   ACT TO AMEND AN ACT ENTITLED AN ACT TO AMEND THE LAWS IN
RELATION TO SLAVES AND FREE PERSONS oF COLOR, PASSED ON THtt 17TI
DAY or DEccEMBER, ONE THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED AND THIRTY FOUR.
Be it enacted, by the Senate and House of Representatives, now met
Disposal of the antd sitting in General Assembly, and by the authority of- the satne, That
fince.     whenever any person or persons shall have been convicted, under the third or
sixth section of the aforesaid act, tihe ties imposed, in pursuance of the said
sections, shall be appropriated, one half for the use of the State, the other
half to the informer.
In the Senate House, the eighteenth day of December, in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and forty-four, and in the sixty-ninth year of the Sovereignty
and Independence of the United States of America.

moneys under its control, and account in such manner and at such time as

when such Boards deem it expedient, give bond, with sufficient sureties, to be
