Resolved, That the House do-concur in the report. Ordered, that it be re-
turned to the Senate.

COMMITTEE ON THE GOVERNOR'S ACCOUNTS.
In the House of Representatives, Dec. 18, 1838.
The committee appointed on the part of the House of Representatives, to
examine the accounts of His Excellency P. M. Butler, touching the expenditure
of the contingent and military contingent funds, have discharged the duty
assigned them, and submit the fbllowing report:-That the contingent fund
proper, $7,000 00, and the military contingent fund, $6,000 00, making to.
gether the sum of $13,000 00, have not been sufficient to meet the necessary
expenditures, which have been made by his Excelluncy and charged to said
funds.
The amount of expenditure submitted by his Excellency upon both the
funds is, $15,320 34, being $2,320 34 over and above the sums appropriated;
and for which expenditure satisfhctory vouchers were produced to your
committee.
Among the items of expenditure are included $2,000, for arms and arsenal
purposes; $501 for insurance of College buildings, and $505 33 for repairs
of the roof of the Citadel in Charleston.
The Governor, to meet said expenditures, has overdrawn on the Branch of
the Bank of the State of South Carolina, at Columbia, $2,32) 34.
Your committee recommend that two thousand three hundred and twenty
dollars thirty-four cents be appropriated to cover the above mentioned ex.
penditures, and that the same be placed to the credit of his Excellency P. M.
Butler, in the Branch of the Bank of the State of South Carolina, at Colum-
bia, to close his account with the said Bank for the over draft above specified.
Resolved, That the House do agree to the report. Ordered, that itbe sent
to the Senate for concurrence.

House of Representatives.

COMMITTEE ON THE DE LA MOWE FUND.
In the House of Representatives, Dec. 7, 1838.
The Abbeville Delegation to whom was referred the annual return of the
estate of Dr. John De La Howe, in Abbeville District, with accompanying
uxhibits, beg leave to seport:-That they have examined the same, and are
satisfied that the Farm School and its funds have been well managed during
the past year, and are in a prosperous condition. It appears that the school
now consists of 25 pupils, 13 males and 12 females, between the ages of
eight and seventeen, the last male having been admitted to supply an ap.
