The committee on claims, to which was referred the memorial of H1 Bailey, late attorney
general, beg leave to report, that they have had the claim under their consideiation, ant
are of opinion that the prayer of the petitioner ought to be granted, and recommnend the
same for the adoption of the Senate.
The committee on claims, to whom was referred the patition of sundry citizens of Fair.
field district, praying the legislature to compensate 'lliomas Rohertson, beg leave to report,
that they have duly considered the same and are satiled wiith the justiniss of the clain;
they therefore recommend that tie prayer of the petition be granted, and that the isum of
two hundred dollars be appropriatud tor that purpose

praying compensation for the loss of a slave, b*g leave to repor,.thiat they have corisidered
the same, and find that the slave of the petitioner was tried anl convicted of an, assault aid
battery, with intent to kill, and sentenced to be hung; before the time of execitioin tie hung
himself in jail; the prayer of the petition is that the petitioner be paid the same sum as if
the negro were executed ii, pursuance of the. sentence of the court; your comijittee arc
of opinion that the claim is a reasonable one, and recommended tha: the prayer of the pe-
tition be granted, and that the usual appropriation of one hundred and twenty-two dollars
forty-two cents, be made for the petitioner.

they have duly donsidered the same, and recommend that fifty dollars, with interest from
1827, be appropriated for that purpose.

to the House of Iepresentatives for concurrence.
