THE Committee of Claims, to whom was referred the petition of Williamo Lofton,
Administrator of the estate of .Tared Smith, deceased, praying compensation for a ne-
gro executed, beg leave to Report, that they have carefully examined the same, and
do respectfully recommend, that the prayer of the petitioner be granted, and that the
sum ofone hundred and twenty two dollars and forty five cents be appropriated for
that purpose.
Resolved, That the Senate do agree to the report. Ordered, That it be sent to the
House of Representatives

be appropriated for that purpose.

THE Judiciary Committee, to which was referred the petitiop of Arthur Davis,
praying compensation for attending the Court of Sessions for Edgefield district, as
witness in the case ofthe state against William Clarke, who was indicted for horse steal-
ing, have had the same under consideration, and respectfully recommend that lie lie
paid the sum of seven dollars twenty-five cents; and that provision be made therefor
in the appropriation bill.
Resolved, That the Senate do agree to the report. Ordered, That it be sent to the
House of Representatives.
