;Dec. 1829.  CHAP. 19.-An ACT to punish the receivers of' Stolen Goods.
k_#     J    [Sec. 1.] lie it enacted by the Senate and House of Repre-
sentatives, noc met and sitting in General .Assembly, and by the
authority of the same, That from and after the first day of Ja-
nuary next, in all cases whatever, where any goods and chat-
tels, or other prop erfy, of which larceny may be committed,
shall have beein feloniously taken or stolen by a slave or slaves,
or by a free person or persons of colour, every person who
shall buy or receive any such goods and chattels, or other pro-
perty, knowing the same to have been stolen, shall be held
and deemed guilty of, and may be prosecuted for a misdemea-
nor, whether the principal offender or offenders be or be not
prbviously convicted; and upon conviction thereof, shall be
punished by imprisonment and whipping, in like manner as
persons convicted of petty larceny.
Sec. 2. /nd be it further enacted by the authority aforesaid,
That from and after the said first day of January next, in all
cases whatever, where any goods and chattels, or other pro-
F erty, ofwhich larceny may be committed, shall have been fe-
lomiously taken or stolen by any person or persons, whether
tthe offence of such person or persons so taking or stealing the
same, shall amount to grand larceny or some greater offence, or
to petit larceny only, every person who shall buy or receive
any such goods or chattels,. or other property, knowing the
same to have been stolen, shall be held and deemed guil-
ty of, and may be prosecuted for a misdemeanor, and upon
conviction thereof, shall be punished by imprisonment and
whipping, although the principal felon or felons be not previ-
ously convicted, or be convicted of petit larceny only, and
whether he, she or they is or are amenable to justice or not.

CHAP. 20.-An ACT to reduce the penalty of the Escheator's Bond fbr
York District.
[Sec. 1.] Be it enacted by the Seate and House of Re-
.         presentatives, That any person who shall hereafter be elected
or appointed to the oflice of escheator, for York district, shall
only be required to enter into bond in the penalty of three
thousand dollars.
 In the Senate House, the eighteenth day of December, in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty-nine, and in the ffty-
fourth pear of the Independence of the United States o/fAmericea.
