gress, to tax the citizens of one State to make roads and canals for the citizens of ano-

the United States, and all app'opriaions in juczor of the Colonization Society, or tle
patronage of the same, either directly or indirectly by t1h Gcneral Uovernment.
6. Resolved, That the Governor be requested to trancsmit copies of this preamble
and resolutions to the Goveniors of tile several Slates, with the reqciest that tihe same
be laid before the Legislatucres oif their respective Sittes ; ancd also to our Senators
and Represenatives in Congress, to be by them laid before Congress for consideration.
