Be it enacted by the Honorable the Senate and House of
lepresentatives, now met and sitting in General Jisseibly,
arid by the authority of the same, Thit hereafter it shall and
may be lawfid for any person residing within Fairfield district,
ani liable to do Militia duty, to join atpi become a member
ot the Winnsboro' Light Infantry Volunteer Company, in
the same manner as such person would be entitled to do,
were he a resident of that Regiment ty whiclh said Company

[Section 1.]. Be it enacted by the Honorable the Senate and
flouse if liepresentatives, now met and sitting in General .ds-        .
sentbl and by the authority of the same, T'at from and after        a
the passing of this act, eight Justices of the Quorum shall be ce to he ap-
appointed for the Parishes of St. Philip's and St. Michael's, by
joint resolution of both branches of the Legislature, who shalt
continue in ollice 'Four years, and util a new appointment
shall be made by the Legislature, to whom shall be assigned
exclusive jurisdiction, in all small and mean causes within the
same; Provided, That six of the said magistrates shall always
be residents in the City of Charleston,and the other two, resi
dents of other parts of the said Parislhe.
Sec. 2. .f1nd be it further enacted by the authority aforesaid,
That the civil jurisdiction of the said Magistrates shall extend theirjuris
throughout the Vl'arishes of St. Philip and St. Michael, to the diction.
