bec.1s75. any stream used for the purposes of navigation by boals,
flats, or rafts of lumber or timber without sufficient locks
or slopes or canals in or around such mill damis or other
obstructions to admit the free navigation of such streams:
And ifany person shall violate the trute intent ind mean-
ing of this act, such person shall be guilty, of a nuisance,
and such obstructions may be abated is othe public nui-
sances are, by the laws of this Statc.
Whereas, by a resolution of the House of Iepresenta-
lives, dated the tenth of December, one thousand eight
hundred and tLyonty-three, and concurred in by the Se-
nate December the nineteenth, one thousandeight hundred
and twenty-three, the Superintendent of Public Works
was instructed to offpr' to Nicholas Herbenont a convey-
ance of lots Number one and two, and the choice of lots
Number threeand nine, and that he be instructed to require
in exchange for such conveyance, a public right of way to
Ipniel's mill, and land sufficient to complete a tow path in
front of lots belonging to the said Nicholas Herbemont.
And whereas the said Nicholas Terbeniont has made choice
of lot Number nine, and the Superintendent has given to
the said .Nicho!as Herboniont the conveyance, And receiv-
ed from him in exclange the conveyanep as directed by
the sadl resolution

CHAP. 14.-An ACT respecting Jxynch's Causeway and the Causeway
.anal, in the pansl of Prince George, Winyaly.
WHEREAS, the Commissioners of Lynch's Causeway
have, pursuant to the powers vested in them by the 40th
section of the Road Act, passed on the twentieth of
December, one thousand eight hundred and twenty-three,
caused a Cabal to be cut parallel with the said Causeway
from North to South Santee River. And whereas the said
Canal is of' material importance to enable the Commission-
ers to keep the Causeway in repair, and to facilitatle travel-
ling across Lynch's Island, whereby an essential public
good is effected:-
