Resolved, That the act altering the fourth section of the first article ofh Cf16&44
tution of the Stte of SouthiCarolina, be herewith published, viz: Every r66 *h
man of the age of twenty-one years, (paupers, and non-commissioned oflicers &id ji-
vate soldiers of the army of the United States excepted,) being a citizen bf thii itat
and having resided therein two years previous to the day of election, and who hAive,a
freehold of fifty acres of land, or a town lot, of which he has been legally seiied a
possessed, at least six months before such election; or not having any such fk 6id
or town lot, hath been resident in the election district in which he offers to gie his
vote, before the election six months, he shall have a right to vote fur a ii diil6r'
members to sirve in either branch of the legislature, for the election district iii which
he holds such property or is resident.                            ,      .
* Resolved, That printed copies of these resolutions shall be transmitted to the per-
sons who shall have been appointed to conduct said elections, and that in cAse of i-
cessity, the clerks of both houses of the legislature, be, and they are hereby authori-
zed to forward these resolutions by sperial messengers.
Resolved, That the respective managers, be, and ari hereby empowered, if.they
hall think it necessary, to administer the usual oath to any person or personshatso-
ever, who shall appear to give their votes at suci elections.
Resolved, That the managers of the aforesaid election districts, shall be enmpow e
ad and required to hold elections for members to Congress, at the same time prescri-
bed for holding elections for members ofthe legislature.
Resolved, That this House do agree to the report. Ordered, That it be sent to the
House of Representatives for concurrence.
