In the House of Representatives, Nlovember 29, 1823.
THE committee o clainis, to w!om was referred the petition of Henry Hill, pray-
ing compensation for a slave executed, be leave to Report, that they ave had the
petition and accompanying documents before them, and find that the petitioner own-
ed a negro man called Toney, who was charged with the crime of burglary; that he
was tried, condemned and executed forthat 1,9ence; and that previous to the execu-
tion of the sentence, was appraised, as the aet of the legislature in such eases di-
rects:-Your committee, therefore, respectfidly recommend that the sumn of one hun-
dred and twenty-Iwo dollars and forty-two, cents, the sum allowed by law, he appropri-
ated for that purpose.
Resolved, That the House do agree to the report. Ordered, That it be sent to the
Senate for concurrence.
