Monday after the fourth Monday in March and Octo-
ber; and at Jacksonborough, for Colleton district, on
the third Monday after the fourth Monday in March
and October in every year; cach of which said courts
shall sit and be holden six days, and no longer. And
.ill writs and other process of law, which shall have
been made returnable in the said courts, according to
the laws heretofore.in force, shall be legal and valid, to
all intents and purposes; and the persons bound there-
by shall attend on the days prescribed by this act for
the sitting of the said courts respectively.
In the Senate House, the nineteenth Day of Decemlber, in the Year of
our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and sixteen, and in the For-
t frest Year of the Independence ofthe United .States of America.

B   E It enactedby the honorable theSenate and House
A of Representatives, now met and .itting in General
Assembly, and by the authority of the same, That from
WoSlaves and after the passing of this act, no slave, nor any negro,
tbbebro't Indian, Moor, mulatto or mustizo, bound to serve for
into taeO  life or a term of years, shall be brought into this state
'    from any of the United States, or any of the territories
or countries bordering thereon: and if any slave, or
any negro, Indian, Moor, mulatto or mustizo, bound
to'service for a term of years, shall be imported or
brought into this state contrary to the true intent and
meaning of this act, such slave or slaves, negro, Indi-
an, Moor, mulatto or mustizo, shall be deemed and ta-
ken as a forfeiture to the state, and one half of whose
.,value shall be paid to the person or persons inforning
of such importation or bringing in: and the person or
persons importing or bringing in such slave, negro, In-
dian, Moor, mulatt. or mustizo, so as aforesaid, shall
be liable to be indicted therefor, and upon conviction
thereof, shall he fined fifty dollars for every slave, ne-
gro, Indian, Moor, mulatto or mustizo, so as aforesaid
by him or them imported or brought into this state:
Provided that if any person shall be travelling into o.,
through this state without any intention to reside per-
manentlv thercin, with not more than two slaves, ne-
